Chapter 10 - The Healing Home

The chaotic, violent energy of the betrayal completely evaporated from the luxurious Long Island estate.
Dominic stood in the center of the living room, his broad shoulders heaving as he let out a long, shuddering breath. The truth was finally out. The murderers were banished to ruin, and his wife's spirit could finally rest in peace.
He turned around and looked at Maria, the young maid who was still trembling near the coffee table.
"You didn't steal," Dominic said softly, his voice returning to a warm, genuine tone. "You saved my family today, Maria."
"I was just trying to fix the bunny, sir," Maria whispered, wiping her tears.
"You are no longer a maid in this house," Dominic vowed smoothly, the absolute power of his wealth backing his words. "As of this exact second, you are the Head Estate Manager. Your salary is quintupled, and you answer to absolutely no one but me."
Maria gasped, covering her mouth as tears of pure, unadulterated joy filled her eyes.
Dominic didn't wait for her thanks. He dropped to his knees one last time on the marble floor, opening his massive, tattooed arms.
Little Lucia didn't hesitate. The brave four-year-old girl in the pink floral dress ran forward, burying her face into her father's chest. Dominic hugged her tightly, closing his eyes as tears finally spilled down his hardened face.
"Daddy didn't do it, Lucia," Dominic whispered, kissing her hair. "I love you. And no one will ever, ever hurt you again."
Lucia hugged his neck tightly, her voice returning completely as she whispered, "I know, Daddy."

The nightmare was finally over, and the broken family could finally begin to heal in the light.
If you were Dominic, would you have handed Victoria over to the police for her crimes, or was throwing her onto the street with absolutely nothing the perfect justice?
