Chapter 5 - The Lockdown

"Guards," Dominic commanded.
It was a single, quiet word, but it carried the absolute, terrifying weight of a death sentence.
Instantly, four massive, heavily armed syndicate enforcers stepped out from the shadows of the hallway. They seamlessly locked the heavy mahogany double doors of the living room, blocking every single exit. The loud, metallic click of the deadbolts echoed like a judge's gavel.
"Nobody leaves this room," Dominic stated coldly, walking directly toward his massive glass coffee table.
He pulled his sleek, encrypted laptop from his briefcase. He didn't look at Victoria. He didn't look at the trembling maid. His entire existence was narrowed down to the tiny micro-SD card he had just extracted from the hidden camera.
Marcus, Dominic’s trusted right-hand underboss in a sharp grey suit, stepped forward from the perimeter of the room.
"Boss, let my tech guys handle that," Marcus offered smoothly, though a bead of cold sweat formed on his temple. "We don't know what kind of malware is on that drive. Let me take it."
Dominic paused. His slow, calculating eye movement shifted to his best friend.
"Sit down, Marcus," Dominic whispered, his voice devoid of any warmth.
Marcus swallowed hard, slowly backing away.

Dominic slid the tiny SD card into the laptop port. The screen flickered to life. There were dozens of encrypted video files. Dominic scrolled past the mundane recordings of the children sleeping and clicked on the file time-stamped exactly fourteen months ago—the night of the "accident."
👉 The video buffered, and the horrific, undeniable truth of the murder was about to play in high definition.
