Chapter 9 - The New Contract

The chaotic, violent energy of the cartel war completely evaporated from the street.

The threat was permanently neutralized. The Chicago territory was absolutely secure.

Gabriel walked slowly toward my armored transport. He bypassed his massive bodyguards, completely ignoring the flashing police lights in the distance. He stopped right in front of me. The terrifying executioner vanished instantly, replaced by the man who had actually smiled while learning the waltz.

He looked at my ruined dance studio. The glass was shattered, the mirrors were destroyed, and the beautiful maple floor was covered in debris.

"I owe you a new studio," Gabriel said softly, his deep voice thick with genuine respect.

"You owe me for the entire extraction, Mr. Moretti," I corrected smoothly, crossing my arms over my tactical vest. "My services are not cheap."

"I don't care what it costs," Gabriel replied. He took a slow, deliberate step closer. The cinematic tension between us was absolutely electric. He looked deeply into my eyes. "I want to hire you exclusively. No more cartels. No more hiding. You run my secure logistics, and I rebuild your studio tenfold."

I raised an eyebrow. "Is this a business proposal, Gabriel?"

"It's a start," he smiled, reaching out to gently touch my shoulder. "But I still have eleven dance lessons left on my grandmother's contract. And I absolutely refuse to break a promise to her."

I couldn't help but laugh, the pure relief completely washing over me.
