Alessandro placed his heavily tattooed hands firmly on the armrests of his black wheelchair. He took a slow, deep breath.

Victor gasped, stumbling backward until his back hit the heavy oak door. "You... you can walk?!"

"I've been walking for three months," Alessandro said coldly, stepping out from behind the desk. "My doctors swore me to secrecy. Because I knew the rat in my organization would only make a mistake when they thought I was permanently paralyzed."

Alessandro walked slowly, purposefully toward the traitor. Every heavy footstep echoed like a death knell in the quiet office.

Sophia kept Emma’s eyes covered, hiding her face in the white apron.

"You killed my brother," Alessandro whispered, stopping mere inches from Victor’s terrified face. "You hunted his wife. You drew a weapon on my niece."

Alessandro didn't draw a gun. He didn't have to. He simply looked at his elite loyalists.
