Chapter 1 - The Golden Cage

The grand luxury gala ballroom was a masterclass in cinematic opulence. Towering crystal chandeliers dripped from the ceiling, casting a warm, brilliant glow over elegant marble floors and hundreds of elite guests dressed in formal evening wear. Outside the massive windows, the high-society world of the city spun on, entirely unaware of the suffocating tension trapped inside the room.
Sitting alone near the center of the polished floor was Dante Vance.
The 35-year-old syndicate boss and tech billionaire looked like a statue carved from dark marble. He sat rigidly in a sleek black wheelchair, wearing an all-black custom suit that contrasted sharply with his pale skin. His short dark hair was neatly styled, and heavy tattoos crawled up his thick neck and down his hands—visible reminders of the violent underworld empire he once ruled with an iron fist.
Two years ago, a devastating ambush had left him paralyzed from the waist down and robbed him of the only two people he ever truly loved: his wife, Elena, and their newborn baby daughter.
Standing a few feet away, swirling expensive scotch in a crystal glass, was Dante's cousin, Marcus. Marcus wore a smug, arrogant grin, flanked by several high-paying board members.
"Look at him," Marcus murmured loudly enough for the surrounding guests to hear. "The great Dante Vance. Reduced to a spectator in his own empire. By midnight, we vote him out, liquidate his shares, and this whole estate becomes mine."
