Chapter 6 - The Return of the Queen

"Hello, Marcus," Elena’s voice rang out, clear, cold, and cutting through the ballroom with the absolute authority of a true queen.
Marcus stumbled backward, crashing into a gold chair. "You... you're dead! My men verified the brakes on your car! They verified the explosion!"
"Your men are incompetent criminals, Marcus," Elena stated smoothly as she walked gracefully across the marble floor, stopping right beside the little girl in the blue lace dress. She reached down, gently resting her hand on the child's curly brown hair. "You tried to murder me and my newborn baby to steal my husband's trust fund. But you forgot one simple rule of the underworld: never leave a widow who knows how to code your security accounts."
Dante sat entirely paralyzed in his black wheelchair, staring up at his wife. Tears spilled over his eyelashes, cutting hot tracks through the stubble on his rugged face. The grief that had chained him to this chair for two years instantly melted into an overwhelming, blinding wave of absolute relief.
Elena looked down at her husband, her eyes softening with deep, profound love.
"Get up, Dante," Elena whispered softly, a confident smile touching her lips. "It's time to take back our home."
With a sudden, powerful surge of adrenaline, Dante gripped the armrests of his wheelchair. Pushing against the numbness with every ounce of his unbroken spirit, the paralyzed billionaire planted his feet firmly onto the elegant marble floor and stood up to his full height.
