Chapter 7 - The Gathering Storm

Marcus tried to blend back into the crowd, his face drained of all color as he motioned frantically for his personal bodyguards to clear a path toward the side exit.

"Don't even think about it, Marcus," a chilling, deep voice echoed from the side entrance.

Stepping out of the shadows were four heavily armed federal marshals, their dark tactical gear flashing under the crystal chandeliers. Behind them stood Tony, Marcus’s head of security, holding a heavy encrypted hard drive in his hands.

Marcus stopped dead in his tracks. He stared at his own head of security in utter betrayal. "Tony? What is the meaning of this?"

Tony didn't flinch. He walked straight over to Elena and handed her the hard drive.

"I never liked you, Marcus," Tony said coldly. "And when Mrs. Vance reached out to me three months ago with the full proof of how you sabotaged Mr. Vance's car and hid the baby in a safe house, it was an easy choice to switch sides. I secured the evidence. I protected the child."

Dante’s chest heaved with overwhelming fury. He took a heavy, steady step forward on his own two legs, the sound of his shoes clicking against the marble floor sounding like a ticking clock of doom for his treacherous cousin.

"You took my legs, Marcus," Dante said, his voice dropping into a dark, lethal whisper. "You took my family. And tonight, I take everything back."

👉 Marcus was completely cornered, but he was about to make a desperate attempt to use the board members as human shields.
