Chapter 6 - The Platinum Card

Before I could even process what Dominic had just ordered, the towering man reached into the inner pocket of his custom black suit.
He pulled out a heavy, sleek, unembossed black platinum credit card. He didn't hand it to me. He handed it directly to his second massive bodyguard.
"Take the little artist back to the shoe department," Dominic commanded his man. "Buy the red shoes. Buy the matching coat. Buy every single thing in that section that fits her."
"Sir, no!" I gasped, completely overwhelmed, trying to grab Rosie's hand. "I cannot accept charity! We don't take handouts!"
Dominic looked directly into my eyes, the cinematic realism of his absolute authority paralyzing me.
"It's not charity," Dominic stated firmly. "It's an investment in a local artist. She drew me a masterpiece on a bus ticket, and I am paying her for her work."
He looked down at Rosie and offered a rare, genuine smile. "Go with my friend, Rosie. Pick out whatever you want."
Rosie’s eyes widened with pure, unadulterated joy. She looked up at me for permission. I was completely trapped by Dominic’s intense stare, entirely unable to refuse the miracle unfolding in front of me. I gave Rosie a small, defeated nod.
The massive bodyguard gently took Rosie’s hand and led her toward the shoe department like she was royalty.
I stood alone with the most dangerous man in New York.
"You didn't have to do that," I whispered, tears finally escaping my tired eyes.
"I know," Dominic replied softly.
Suddenly, the lead bodyguard stepped forward, holding a glowing smartphone.

"Boss," the guard said quietly. "Chicago found him."
👉 Dominic took the phone, and the absolute destruction of my deadbeat husband was officially underway.
