Chapter 9 - The Bakery Buyout

Just a few minutes later, Rosie came skipping back from the shoe department. She wasn't just holding the thirty-eight-dollar red shoes. The massive bodyguard behind her was carrying ten massive Bergman’s shopping bags, filled with warm winter coats, beautiful dresses, and enough toys to fill our entire apartment.

"Mommy! Look!" Rosie beamed, completely oblivious to the cartel war that had just been executed in her honor.

I dropped to my knees and hugged her tightly, sobbing with profound, overwhelming relief.

Dominic stood over us, adjusting the cuffs of his black suit.

"Where exactly is this bakery you work at?" Dominic asked, his voice returning to its calm, business-like tone.

"Novak’s Bakery on 4th Street," I replied, standing back up, wiping my eyes. "Why?"

"Because you don't scrub floors anymore," Dominic stated, the absolute power of his massive wealth backing every word. "My holding company just officially purchased Novak’s Bakery."

I gasped, my eyes widening in sheer shock. "What?"

"As of this exact second, you are the General Manager of that bakery," Dominic vowed smoothly. "Your salary is quintupled. You have full health benefits. And Rosie’s college tuition will be fully funded by my private trust."

"Dominic, I can't accept—"

"I don't take no for an answer," Dominic interrupted gently, offering a warm, genuine smile. "Consider it an advance on the artwork. I expect a new drawing from Rosie every single Christmas."

👉 Dominic completely secured our entire future, leaving the villains to rot in the ruins of their own greed.
