Chapter 1 - The Empty Penthouse

The heavy oak doors of the luxury American penthouse swung open.

Dante stepped into the bedroom. The 42-year-old mafia boss was a terrifying, imposing figure. He was shirtless, his heavily muscular chest and arms covered in dark, intricate syndicate tattoos, wearing only tailored black slacks. He had just returned from a brutal three-day cartel negotiation, expecting his quiet, obedient wife to be waiting for him.

Instead, the massive bedroom, with its breathtaking view of the sparkling city skyline and high-end glass closet, was completely dead and silent.

Dante froze. The two massive bodyguards in dark suits stepping in behind him immediately stopped, sensing the sudden, apocalyptic shift in the room's energy.

"Where is Isabella?" Dante asked, his voice tight, vibrating with a tense, lethal edge.

The lead bodyguard swallowed hard, his eyes dropping to the marble floor. "She left, Boss. Told us not to follow."

Dante stood entirely motionless. He took a slow drag from his cigarette, the smoke curling around his hardened face as he stared at the pristine white sheets of their king-sized bed.

Resting perfectly arranged in the exact center of the mattress was a handwritten letter, a three-carat diamond wedding ring, and a loaded black handgun.

Dante’s jaw clenched so tightly the muscles ticked beneath his skin. He dropped his cigarette and picked up a smartphone resting next to the gun. He tapped the screen to play a received video message.

The screen illuminated. Isabella appeared, wearing a simple white sweater. Her face was a mask of absolute, cinematic calmness. She looked directly into the lens, completely devoid of the fear she usually carried.

"You broke your vow," Isabella stated softly on the video.

Dante gripped the phone, his knuckles turning white as her cold, resolute words hit him like a physical blow.

"Don't look for me," she finished, the screen going black.

Dante lowered the phone. His dark eyes reflected absolute, crushing despair. "No..." he whispered.

👉 Dante thought his wife was just throwing a dramatic tantrum, but the handwritten letter on the bed was about to shatter his entire universe.
