Chapter 3 - The Tipping Point

Yesterday morning, Isabella sat alone in a sterile medical clinic.

For four years, Dante had demanded an heir, and for four years, Isabella had quietly suffered through the agonizing, lonely process of negative pregnancy tests. But yesterday, the doctor finally smiled and handed her an ultrasound photograph.

She was six weeks pregnant.

Overwhelmed with pure, unadulterated joy, Isabella rushed back to the luxury penthouse. She thought this miracle would finally snap Dante out of his toxic obsession with power. She thought the baby would remind him of the man he used to be.

She walked softly toward Dante’s private study to surprise him.

The heavy mahogany door was cracked open just an inch.

Isabella froze, her natural breathing completely suspended. Through the crack, she saw Valentina sitting casually on Dante’s desk, wearing one of his expensive dress shirts.

"You need to get rid of the quiet little wife, Dante," Valentina purred, tracing her manicured finger down his tattooed chest. "She's weak. My men don't respect a boss who goes home to a fragile mouse. Divorce her, and our alliance becomes an empire."

Isabella waited, her heart hammering against her ribs, desperately praying her husband would defend her.

Dante didn't push Valentina away. He let out a slow, exhausted sigh. "She serves her purpose, Valentina. But you have my alliance, and you have my loyalty. The wife stays out of our way. She's irrelevant to the business."
