Chapter 6 - The Mistress's Mistake

The bedroom doors swung open again.
Valentina walked in, wearing a sheer silk robe, holding a crystal glass of expensive champagne. A smug, victorious smirk was plastered across her perfectly contoured face.
"I heard the little mouse finally packed her bags and ran away, Dante," Valentina laughed cruelly, completely ignoring the devastating grief radiating from the mafia boss. "Good riddance. She didn't have the stomach for this life anyway. Now we can finally rule this city the way it was meant to be ruled."
Dante slowly lifted his head from his hands.
His slow eye movement locked onto Valentina. The agonizing heartbreak in his dark eyes instantly vanished, violently replaced by a cold, apocalyptic, and demonic rage.
The cinematic realization hit him like a bullet. Valentina had intentionally left the study door open yesterday. She had purposely spoken loudly about replacing Isabella. She had orchestrated the entire conversation specifically to break Isabella’s spirit and drive her out of the penthouse.
Valentina hadn't just insulted his wife; she had actively stolen his family.
Dante slowly stood up. He didn't look at the beautiful cartel heiress with lust or respect. He looked at her the exact same way a butcher looks at a piece of dead meat.
