Chapter 5 - The Carriage House

At exactly 9:14 PM, the heavy wooden door of the old carriage house creaked open.

Chloe slipped inside, her sparkly evening gown rustling softly in the dark. She held the small black decryption drive tightly in her manicured hand. The carriage house was freezing and smelled of dust and old oil.

She bypassed the antique cars and walked directly to the heavy, false brick wall at the back of the garage. She punched in a six-digit code she had watched Dominic use weeks ago.

The brick wall slid open, revealing the massive, heavy steel door of the biometric vault.

"Perfect," Chloe whispered to herself, a toxic, triumphant smirk spreading across her face. She was about to become the richest woman in the rival cartel.

She plugged the black decryption drive into the override port next to the retinal scanner. She waited for the green light to flash, signaling the massive transfer of Dominic's empire into her hands.

But the light didn't turn green.

The small screen on the drive suddenly flashed a bright, glaring red. ACCESS DENIED. INITIATING LOCKDOWN.

Chloe gasped in sheer panic. She frantically yanked the drive out, but it was too late. The heavy steel door didn't open. Instead, the heavy wooden doors of the carriage house behind her violently slammed shut, locking her entirely inside the dark garage.

Suddenly, a single, harsh spotlight snapped on, blinding her.

👉 Chloe shielded her eyes from the intense light, completely unaware that the man standing in the shadows was holding her death warrant.
