Chapter 6 - The Apex Predator

"Did you really think I wouldn't change the access codes, Chloe?"

The deep, vibrating, demonic voice echoed off the cold concrete walls of the carriage house.

Chloe screamed, dropping the decryption drive as if it had caught fire. The spotlight shifted, revealing Dominic sitting casually on the hood of a vintage muscle car. He wasn't wearing his black suit jacket anymore. His white shirt was rolled up, fully exposing the thick, terrifying syndicate tattoos covering his muscular forearms.

He didn't look like a loving fiancé. He looked like the apex predator of the Chicago underworld.

"Dominic! It's a misunderstanding!" Chloe shrieked hysterically, scrambling backward against the cold steel of the vault door. "I was just exploring! I swear!"

"You were exploring with a military-grade decryption drive," Dominic replied coldly, completely devoid of any human mercy. "You came into my home. You slept in my bed. You smiled in my face while planning to hand my entire empire over to the Petrov cartel."

"No! They forced me!" Chloe wailed, tears of pure, unadulterated terror ruining her expensive makeup. She dropped to her knees on the filthy garage floor, her sparkly evening gown ruined by the oil and dirt. "They threatened my family! I had no choice!"
