Marcus ended the engagement.
No dramatic altar abandonment.
No social-media announcement.
No public revenge.
He informed close family privately.
Then vendors.
Then guests who had already received save-the-dates.
Vivian moved out under arrangements handled through counsel.
She was not financially destroyed.
She had her own career.
Her own income.
Her own apartment after leaving.
Marcus did not try to ruin those things.
The issue was access.
She would not be around Elsie.
Vivian initially wanted a final conversation with the child.
Marcus refused.
Then reconsidered only after Elsie’s therapist asked Elsie herself.
Elsie said no.
That settled it.
Children do not owe closure to adults who frighten them.
Vivian’s attorney eventually stopped requesting contact.
The boarding-school materials were withdrawn.
Marcus personally contacted the program to correct the record and make clear that the information submitted had not been authorized by him or Elsie’s clinicians.
The school removed the inquiry from any active process.
No institution had failed Elsie.
An adult had tried to misuse one.
