Chapter 10 - The True Matriarch

Six months later, the dark, heavy shadows of abuse and manipulation were permanently banished from Gloria's life.

Trevor was convicted of felony domestic assault. Because he was completely bankrupt and couldn't afford a high-priced defense attorney, he was sentenced to four years in a state penitentiary. Kristen immediately filed for divorce, desperately trying to steal whatever she could, only to discover there were zero marital assets to divide. She was forced to move into a tiny, rundown apartment, completely abandoned by her high-society friends.

Gloria didn't move back into a mansion.

She bought a beautiful, peaceful, highly secured penthouse overlooking the city. Her bruised eye had completely healed, and she no longer wore the heavy, exhausted expression of a victim.

She officially stepped out of the shadows, taking her rightful place as the active CEO of the Vanguard logistics empire. She surrounded herself with loyal, brilliant executives who respected her absolute authority. She was no longer a silent ATM for an abusive son; she was a fierce, titanium matriarch who commanded an entire industry with undeniable power and grace.

She sat on her pristine balcony, sipping a cup of expensive tea, looking out over the city skyline. She had survived the absolute worst betrayal imaginable and emerged completely, undeniably victorious.
