Chapter 4 - The Traitor Arrives

I didn't panic. The grieving, broken father completely evaporated, and the ruthless, untouchable boss of the Vitelli empire officially woke up.
I turned to my men, Nico and Vincent.
“Take Sister Helen and my daughter to the secure SUV out back,” I commanded smoothly. “Lock the doors. Do not let anyone near them.”
I kissed Sophia’s forehead. “I’ll be right back, sweetheart. Daddy has to talk to an old friend.”
The orphanage fell into a dark, heavy silence. I sat in the director’s chair, entirely concealed in the shadows of the unlit office, waiting.
At exactly 8:00 PM, the heavy front doors of the orphanage swung open. Heavy, arrogant footsteps echoed down the linoleum hallway.
Matteo Rizzo walked into the office wearing a flawless, custom-tailored Italian suit. He was smiling, holding a thick briefcase, completely expecting to find a terrified nun ready to hand over a six-year-old child. Two of his own armed bodyguards flanked him.
“Sister Helen,” Matteo announced loudly, his voice dripping with toxic, untouchable arrogance. “Bring me the girl. The buyer’s private jet is waiting on the tarmac, and I don't like to be kept waiting.”
“She’s not here, Matteo.”
My deep, echoing voice instantly sucked all the oxygen out of the small room.

I slowly stood up from the director’s chair and stepped out of the dark shadows, letting the pale moonlight illuminate my face.
👉 Matteo’s arrogant smile violently collapsed, and the true monster was finally forced into the light.
