Chapter 8 - The Fall of the Traitor

All the color completely drained from Matteo’s face. The arrogant, untouchable mastermind was suddenly reduced to a pathetic, cornered coward.
“Luca, please!” Matteo begged, his voice cracking with pure, humiliating panic. He dropped to his knees on the dirty linoleum floor. “We’re brothers! I only did it for the money! I didn't hurt her, I swear! I kept her alive! Let me leave the country!”
I walked around the desk and looked down at the man who had stolen six years of my life.
“You don't get to leave the country,” I said, my voice completely devoid of human mercy.
I didn't shoot him. A quick death was far too generous for a monster like Matteo.
“Strip him,” I commanded Nico and Vincent.
My men violently hauled Matteo to his feet. They stripped him of his expensive tailored suit, his luxury watch, and his encrypted phone. They left him in nothing but his undershirt and slacks.
“You are bankrupt. Your reputation in the syndicate is permanently destroyed. And my men have already forwarded the evidence of your embezzlement to the Mexican cartel you owe money to,” I whispered directly into his ear.
Matteo began to hyperventilate, tears of absolute terror streaming down his face. He knew exactly what the cartel would do to him.
“Take him to the border and throw him to the wolves,” I ordered.
