Chapter 4 - The Hallway Camera Had Recorded More Than Anyone Knew
Adrian’s house had security cameras.
Outside entrances.
Kitchen.
Garage.
Main hallway.
He had never considered reviewing them for family behavior.
Now he did.
The hallway camera could not see inside the closet.
But it could see the door.
The first relevant clip was dated January 11.
Milo walked down the hall crying.
Bianca followed.
She pointed toward the closet.
Milo shook his head.
She opened the door.
He backed away.
Bianca grabbed his arm—not violently, but firmly—and directed him inside.
Door closed.
Twelve minutes later, it opened.
Milo came out wiping his face.
The second clip was worse.
February 3.
Milo was holding the teddy bear.
Bianca removed it from him.
Placed it on top of the dark built-in cabinet.
Then pointed toward the closet.
Milo began crying harder.
The door shut.
Twenty-eight minutes later, it opened.
Milo came out.
Reached for the teddy bear.
Bianca walked away without giving it back.
Adrian paused the footage.
His hands shook.
The third clip had audio.
April.
Milo stood beside the closet saying:
“I’m sorry.”
Bianca answered:
“You always say sorry. Then you do it again.”
“What did I do?”
“Cry.”
Adrian stopped the video.
He could not watch the rest immediately.
A child had asked what offense he committed.
The answer was crying.
Adrian sat alone in the security room staring at the frozen frame.
For months, Bianca had been using confinement to train grief out of his son.
Not because Milo was dangerous.
Not because he was destructive.
