Chapter 10 - The Party Had Been Chosen on Purpose

The more I looked at the timing, the uglier it became.

Javier hadn’t hidden those papers at random.

He chose my family barbecue because he thought it was perfect cover.

Lots of people.

Servers moving in and out.

Outdoor equipment being wheeled around.

Cars arriving and leaving.

Coats, bags, coolers, supplies.

In chaos, ordinary objects disappear.

An envelope tucked into a grill compartment could be removed later by anyone carrying trays or equipment. No one would think twice.

That also explained why Javier himself had stayed close to the grill area even before the confrontation. He was waiting for the right moment to move the documents without attracting attention.

Only then Leo saw him.

A child, curious and unfiltered, noticed what adults ignored.

There was something almost poetic about that.
