Michael obtained the email legally through company discovery after an internal governance complaint was filed.
It was from Lucille to Derek.
Three weeks before the wedding.
He won’t lose control over business. He will lose control over the boy.
Derek replied:
Then make sure enough people see it.
Lucille:
The reception gives us witnesses.
Then:
Do not initiate anything serious. Let Rafael be Rafael.
Rafael stopped reading.
His stomach turned.
They had not instructed anyone to injure Emmett.
That distinction mattered.
There was no plan to seriously harm a child.
The plan was psychological.
Humiliate him.
Belittle him.
Make him cry.
Then wait for his father.
Lucille believed Rafael’s love for his son was not merely emotional vulnerability.
It was a governance weakness she could weaponize.
The thought disgusted him.
But it also forced Rafael to confront something uncomfortable.
