Chapter 9 - Mom Had Hidden Copies In Her Sewing Box

The records Vanessa wanted were not in the medication cabinet.
Mom had hidden copies upstairs.
In an old sewing box.
That was why she came to the sunroom confrontation already determined.
She had started comparing labels herself.
Slowly.
One number at a time.
Because everyone else thought her memory was failing, she stopped relying on memory.
She wrote everything down.
Dates.
Tablet colors.
Dosages.
Times.
Who handed her what.
That notebook was devastating.
Not because every entry was perfect.
Some dates were wrong by a day.
Some pill descriptions were confused.
But overall, the pattern matched pharmacy and camera records.
Mom had adapted around her cognitive weakness.
And nobody gave her credit for it.
Grandpa read every page.
Then said:
“My daughter knew she might forget, so she created evidence.”
I had to leave the room.
That sentence broke me.
Because Mom had done exactly what we tell vulnerable people to do.
Document.
Record.
Check.
Ask for help.
May you like
And we still chose the smoother story because Vanessa sounded more certain.
