Chapter 11 - Rocco Had to Answer for Throwing Victoria

Rocco did not pretend his own reaction was perfect.

Victoria lunged toward Noah.

He intercepted her.

That protection was immediate and justified.

He grabbed her arm.

Then threw her backward hard enough to collapse the banquet table.

Could he have stopped her with less force?

Probably.

When investigators asked, Rocco answered honestly.

“I saw her moving toward my son after she had already hit him.”

“Did you intend to injure her?”

“No.”

“Were you angry?”

“Yes.”

“Very?”

“Yes.”

He did not say:

“I blacked out.”

He did not say:

“A father can do anything.”

He refused to turn protection into a blank check.

Later, when Noah was older, Rocco wanted him to understand something important:

Standing between a child and danger is strength.

Losing control because you are furious is something different.

Both things had existed inside that same moment.

Rocco could own both.
