Chapter 5 - The Purge of the Dining Room
The front doors of the restaurant were shoved open.
Four massive men in dark suits stepped inside. They moved with terrifying, synchronized efficiency. The leader, a towering man with a thick beard named Rowan, walked straight past the terrified diners and stopped exactly two feet behind Wesley, waiting for orders.
The wealthy patrons who had ignored Cora’s assault finally realized they were trapped in a room with a mafia hit squad.
A man in an expensive gray suit jumped up from his table, pulling his wife by the arm. "We're leaving! Now!"
"Sit down," Rowan commanded. His voice wasn't loud, but it hit the room like a physical shockwave.
The man froze, then slowly sank back into his chair, terrified.
Wesley finally turned his attention to the crowd. He looked at the people who had watched a young woman get struck and actively chose to look away.
"This restaurant is now closed to the public," Wesley announced calmly. "You will all leave your wallets and your jewelry on your tables to compensate this establishment for the disturbance you allowed to happen. Then, you will walk out the back door. If any of you speak to the authorities about what occurred here tonight, Rowan will visit your homes tomorrow."
Nobody argued. Nobody asked for the manager.
Within ninety seconds, the tables were covered in cash, designer watches, and diamond earrings. The wealthy cowards scrambled over each other, fleeing out the back kitchen exit into the cold alleyway.
Cora stood frozen in Wesley’s warm jacket, completely stunned.
When the back door finally clicked shut, the dining room was entirely empty, except for Cora, Wesley, his four heavily armed enforcers, and a sweating, violently trembling Thaddius Mercer.
Thaddius backed up against the front window, his hands raised in a pathetic surrender. "Listen to me... hey, man... she's my daughter! I was just trying to teach her some respect!"
Wesley slowly unbuttoned his cuffs.
