Chapter 52 - the shadow's signature

Clara didn't scream or summon her heavily armed personal guards. Inheriting the terrifyingly cold, cinematic composure of her mother, she simply stared at the smooth black stone. She immediately recognized it from the classified archives her mother had left behind. It was the calling card of an old-world assassination syndicate that specialized in untraceable corporate sabotage.

Her head of security, a towering, heavily scarred veteran named Elias, stepped silently into the executive suite. He scanned the room with a lethal, millimeter-perfect precision, his tactical weapon drawn, his eyes searching for any immediate physical danger to the young CEO.

"The perimeter is entirely secure, boss," Elias reported, his deep voice a low rumble of absolute tension. "No alarms were tripped. The biometric scanners show zero unauthorized entry. This was an inside job, executed by a true phantom."

Clara stood up, her dark eyes flashing with a razor-sharp glint of icy determination. "They didn't come to kill me, Elias. They came to show me that they can. They are demanding a seat at our table."
