Chapter 8 - The Grandfather's Clause

Adrian completely ignored his expensive black suit as he dropped to one knee in front of Evelyn.
"I was a blind, arrogant fool," Adrian wept, genuine tears finally falling from his dark eyes. He looked up at her swollen belly, desperate to reach out and touch his unborn daughter. "I threw away the only real thing in my life for a lie. But it's over now. The trash is gone. We can be a family, Evelyn. I will give you everything."
Evelyn looked down at the powerful billionaire weeping at her feet. She didn't smile. She didn't feel a single ounce of pity.
"I don't want your apologies, Adrian," Evelyn said, her voice made of unbreakable steel. "And I don't need you to give me everything. Because I already took it."
Adrian’s brow furrowed in deep confusion. He slowly stood up. "What are you talking about?"
"Look at the final document in the folder," Evelyn commanded softly.
Adrian’s trembling hands turned to the very last page in the leather file. It was a heavy legal document, embossed with the official seal of his late grandfather's billionaire trust fund.
Adrian read the highlighted clause. His blood turned to absolute ice.
His grandfather had been an old-school, deeply traditional man. The trust explicitly stated that if Adrian ever committed documented adultery and initiated a divorce, his eighty percent controlling share of the company would instantly default to his firstborn legitimate child—and the child’s primary legal custodian.
