Chapter 10 - The Reclaimed Space

Two months later, Richard Vance was sitting in a federal maximum-security prison, awaiting a trial that would undoubtedly lock him away for the rest of his natural life. His company was dismantled, his yachts were seized, and his arrogant legacy was permanently destroyed.

Because the FBI had the un-redacted ledgers Margaret provided, the government was able to track down every single stolen dollar.

The pension funds were completely restored to all five hundred factory workers in Ohio, with interest.

Margaret didn't want fame. She didn't want a medal.

She simply walked out of her small suburban home on a bright, sunny afternoon, carrying a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers. She drove to the quiet cemetery and placed them gently on Arthur’s gravestone.

She traced her late husband's name carved in the stone, tears of pure, overwhelming relief and profound peace finally spilling down her cheeks. The man who had caused his death had faced absolute, total justice.

Margaret stood up, taking a deep breath of the crisp, fresh air. She wasn't just a tiny, invisible widow in the corner anymore. She was a giant slayer. She had taken up exactly the space she deserved in the world, and no one would ever push her aside again.

If you were Margaret, would you have handed the USB drive straight to the police on the ground, or was destroying his empire at 30,000 feet the ultimate, perfect revenge?
