Chapter 9 - The Public Execution

The cinematic tension in the cabin was absolutely paralyzing as the FBI agents marched down the long economy aisle.

They didn't even look at Margaret. They walked straight past row 24 and marched directly to the jump seat where Richard was zip-tied.

The lead agent, a tall woman with eyes made of ice, pulled a heavy stack of printed papers from her jacket.

"Richard Vance," the agent announced, her voice projecting clearly to every single passenger on the aircraft. "We received a very interesting email from your IP address two hours ago. We have already verified the offshore routing numbers. Your assets have been frozen globally."

All the color violently drained from Richard’s face. He physically sagged against the jump seat, his entire empire turning to ash in his mouth.

"You are under arrest for massive corporate fraud, embezzlement, wire fraud, and grand larceny," the agent continued, pulling a pair of heavy steel handcuffs from her belt.

They cut the plastic zip-ties off his wrists, only to violently slam the cold, heavy steel cuffs onto him.

"No! Please! I can make a deal!" Richard shrieked hysterically, completely breaking down in front of the entire plane. "I'll give the money back! Just don't put me in a cell! I can't go to prison!"

The agents didn't care. They dragged the weeping, pathetic billionaire down the aisle. As he passed row 24, Richard looked at Margaret.

She didn't gloat. She simply raised her cup of tea and took a slow, satisfying sip.
