Chapter 4 - The Midnight Whisper

The massive luxury mansion was dead silent at two in the morning.
Maya couldn't sleep. The maid's warning echoed in her head. She quietly slipped out of her room, walking softly down the carpeted hallway to check on the little girl.
As she approached Lily’s bedroom, she noticed the heavy oak door was cracked open just an inch. A harsh, chilling whisper spilled out into the dark corridor.
Maya stopped perfectly still, pressing her back against the wall, her natural breathing suspended.
Inside the bedroom, Cassandra was standing directly over the seven-year-old’s bed. The elegant socialite was gripping the little girl’s fragile wrist with bone-crushing force.
"You didn't make her quit today, you little freak," Cassandra hissed, her voice dripping with toxic, demonic malice. "I told you to throw the glass at her head! You were supposed to be out of control!"
Lily was crying silently, thick tears rolling down her pale cheeks. "Please... I don't want to be mean anymore. She was nice to me."
"You will do exactly what I say!" Cassandra threatened, digging her manicured nails into the child's skin. "If your father doesn't sign the papers to lock you in that Swiss asylum on Friday, I will tell him you pushed me down the stairs. I will tell him you tried to hurt me. He will send you away forever. Do you understand?!"

Lily nodded frantically, utterly broken by the severe psychological torture.
👉 Maya’s blood turned to absolute ice as she realized the little girl was being forced to fake her tantrums, and she knew she had to build a trap.
