Chapter 6 - The True Master

"You can't fire me, Eleanor," Lucas stated clearly, his deep voice carrying across the entire terrace, drawing the uneasy attention of the nearby wealthy guests. "Because I don't work for you. You work for me."
Eleanor let out a sharp, hysterical laugh, though her face was turning a sickly, pale white. "Have you lost your mind?! This is my estate! My husband left everything to me!"
"Your late husband left everything to the family trust," Lucas corrected coldly, flipping open the legal document. "And I am Lucas Vance-Sterling. The legally adopted son, primary ward, and sole majority beneficiary of the estate."
The elite guests in the background stopped drinking their champagne. The dead silence that swallowed the terrace was absolute.
Eleanor’s jaw literally unhinged. She stared at the young gardener as if he were an actual ghost.
"No... that's impossible!" Eleanor shrieked wildly, her ivory suit shaking as pure, unadulterated panic destroyed her aristocratic composure. "Your father never adopted you! You're just a random orphan he picked up! Those papers are fake!"

"They're signed, notarized, and filed with the federal supreme court," Lucas replied, his eyes flashing with a cold, relentless intelligence. "And more importantly... your temporary trusteeship explicitly stated that any public act of workplace harassment or abuse of estate staff would result in the immediate revocation of your authority."
👉 Eleanor realized her worst nightmare had just come true, and her multi-billion-dollar empire was slipping through her fingers.
