Chapter 8 - The Ultimate Betrayal

Brooke stared at her husband, her eyes wide with absolute, suffocating betrayal.

"Julian?" Brooke choked out, the reality of his monstrous manipulation finally crashing down on her. "You took it. You were the only one alone in the bedroom with my purse. You set me up!"

"Don't put this on me!" Julian yelled, pointing an aggressive finger at his weeping wife, playing his victim role to perfection for the military officers. "General Reed, I swear to you, I had no idea she was doing this! She's always been obsessed with money and status! Look at how she treated you tonight!"

The older woman in the silver jacket gasped, covering her mouth in sheer horror at the explosive implosion of the couple's marriage.

Julian turned to Colonel Mercer, raising his hands defensively. "I am fully cooperating. You can arrest her. I want a lawyer for myself, but I am entirely innocent."

General Reed watched the pathetic, sweating man throw his own wife to the wolves to save his own skin. The cinematic realism of her cold, unyielding expression didn't change a single millimeter.

She slowly reached out and picked up the blank place card Brooke had mockingly thrown at her earlier.

"You are right about one thing, Julian," General Reed said smoothly, tracing the edge of the blank card. "Your wife is arrogant, cruel, and deeply foolish."

👉 General Reed paused, preparing to deliver the final, devastating sentence that would completely vaporize Julian's life.
