"However," General Reed continued, her dark eyes locking onto the sweating, panicked defense contractor. "She is not a spy."

Julian’s fake, dramatic outrage instantly faltered. "What?"

Colonel Mercer stepped forward, opening the black folder fully to reveal a series of high-definition, 4K security photographs. He laid them out on the white tablecloth.

The photographs clearly showed a man in a black tactical jacket swiping Brooke’s badge at the reinforced door of Building 7. But the next photograph showed the man instantly surrounded, pinned to the concrete, and arrested by a dozen heavily armed military police officers.

"Building 7 is a honeypot, Julian," General Reed stated, her voice echoing with lethal, absolute authority. "The drone schematics inside were fake. We’ve been monitoring your company's catastrophic financial leaks for six months. We knew you were desperate enough to attempt corporate espionage. We just didn't know you were cowardly enough to steal your own wife's security badge to do it."

Julian’s legs physically gave out. He stumbled backward, crashing into his heavy gold chair.
