Chapter 1 - The Cruel Proposal

The grand luxury ballroom of the Vanderbilt estate was a cinematic masterpiece of immense, old-money wealth. Massive crystal chandeliers cast a brilliant, warm light over highly polished marble floors. A live orchestra played a sultry, dramatic tango in the corner, while hundreds of the city's most elite, wealthy guests mingled in expensive evening wear.

But right in the absolute center of the glittering ballroom, a devastating scene of pure, unadulterated humiliation was unfolding.

Emily, a thirty-something woman with her dark brunette hair pinned in a neat updo, stood frozen under the chandeliers. She was working as a catering maid, wearing a simple gray uniform and a white apron. A massive, ugly red wine stain ruined the entire back of her uniform—intentionally "spilled" by a cruel guest just moments ago.

Standing aggressively in front of her was Grant Vanderbilt.

Grant was the fiercely handsome, forty-something billionaire heir to the estate. He wore a sharp black suit, his collar unbuttoned, radiating toxic, untouchable arrogance.

He didn't apologize for the spilled wine. He completely leaned into the humiliation.

With a sickening, theatrical smirk, Grant extended his hand toward the shivering maid, raising his voice so the entire ballroom could hear him.
