Chapter 9 - The True Father

The chaotic, frantic energy completely evaporated from the estate.

Xavier stood in the quiet office, letting out a long, shuddering breath. The heavy, agonizing weight of seven years of grief and isolation was finally lifted. He had his answers. He had his justice.

He turned around and walked out into the hallway.

Sophia was kneeling on the floor, holding little Nathan tightly against her chest, crying with pure, unadulterated relief. She was finally, truly free.

Xavier walked over and dropped to both knees right in front of them. The terrifying, ruthless billionaire completely melted away, leaving only a profoundly loving, protective man.

"Sophia," Xavier whispered, tears of absolute joy finally falling from his dark eyes.

Sophia let go of Nathan and threw her arms around Xavier’s neck, burying her face into his shoulder. "You found us. You actually found us."

"I will always find you," Xavier wept, holding her in a fierce, unbreakable embrace.

He gently pulled away and looked down at seven-year-old Nathan. The little boy in the miniature navy suit looked up at the tattooed billionaire, his dark eyes wide with innocent curiosity.

"Are you the man from the party?" Nathan asked softly.

"I am," Xavier smiled, his heart swelling with an overwhelming, beautiful love. "I'm your father, Nathan. And I am never, ever going to let anyone hurt you again."

Nathan didn't hesitate. He stepped forward and hugged Xavier tightly. "Can we get cake now?"

Xavier laughed, a genuine, warm sound he hadn't made in seven years. "We can get all the cake you want, buddy."
