Chapter 8 - The Price of Betrayal

"Gideon, please! We can talk about this!" Jackson sobbed, falling completely to his knees on the polished marble floor. His classic tuxedo was ruined by his own sweat and terror. "I protected the family money! I kept it safe for you! It was for your own good!"

Gideon slowly turned his head. His eyes locked onto the pathetic, kneeling billionaire.

There was no rage in Gideon’s realistic facial micro-expressions. There was no screaming. There was only the cold, mechanical emptiness of a man looking at a corpse.

"You stole twenty years from my mother," Gideon whispered, the lethal quiet of his voice echoing through the terrified, silent gala. "You let me bury an empty box while she rotted in a basement to fund your pathetic little parties."

Gideon gave a microscopic, barely perceptible nod to his head of security.

"Liquidate everything he owns," Gideon ordered smoothly. "Burn his offshore accounts. Seize his properties. And when he has absolutely nothing left... take him to the basement. The same basement he kept her in. Weld the door shut."

"No! Please! Gideon!" Jackson screamed in absolute, unfiltered agony as two of the mafia enforcers grabbed him by his tuxedo collar, dragging him violently across his own ballroom floor. His aristocratic guests watched in sheer horror as the corrupt billionaire was ripped away, his pathetic cries echoing down the sweeping marble staircases until they faded into silence.

Gideon turned his back on the trash. He unbuttoned his custom-tailored black suit jacket and gently draped the expensive fabric over Harper’s shivering, mud-stained shoulders.

"Show me the way," Gideon said softly.

Harper nodded, clutching his warm jacket tightly as she led the most dangerous man in the city out the grand front doors and into the waiting convoy of black SUVs.

👉 They were speeding toward the hidden underground facility, and the reunion waiting in the dark was about to break the mafia kingpin’s heart.
