Chapter 5 - The Desperate Plea
Wide shot: The deafening, explosive sound of the massive decorative double doors bursting open completely shattered the terrifying silence of the grand marble foyer.
The heavy wooden doors slammed violently against the walls.
Standing entirely silhouetted in the bright light of the doorway was Arthur. He was an older, incredibly distinguished, and physically imposing man. His hair had turned a striking, sharp grey from the intense stress of prison, but his posture was completely flawless. He wore a crisp white button-down shirt and a long, sweeping black overcoat that drifted around his legs like a shadow. The heavy gold ring gleamed dangerously on his finger.
Flanking him on both sides were massive, terrifyingly large bodyguards wearing perfectly tailored black suits and dark black sunglasses, radiating absolute, lethal authority.
Lily stopped scrubbing. Her tiny hands froze on the wooden brush. She slowly turned her head, her tear-filled eyes looking up at the towering figures in the doorway.
For a fraction of a second, she couldn't believe her eyes. She thought it was a beautiful, impossible hallucination. But as she saw the familiar, deeply loving, and profoundly furious face of her father, her entire heart completely exploded with sheer, unadulterated relief and overwhelming joy.
"Please help me!" Lily cried out, her tiny, pleading voice echoing off the high ceilings, tears of absolute desperation streaming down her pale face as she reached her small, soapy hands out toward the door.
Victor—the Man in Black—completely froze. The blood entirely, violently drained from his arrogant face as he stared at his older brother. He realized in a single, catastrophic heartbeat that his massive, stolen empire was completely, permanently over.
