Chapter 8 - The True Queen Returns

The violent, chaotic energy in the room slowly evaporated.

Lorenzo let out a long, shuddering breath. The terrifying, ruthless mafia boss completely melted away, leaving only a profoundly broken, desperate husband seeking redemption. He adjusted his black suit and looked down at Isabella.

"You were so brave, my little bird," Lorenzo smiled warmly, kneeling to stroke Isabella’s cheek. "Now, let's go get her."

Lorenzo stood up and signaled the guards at the front entrance.

The heavy glass double doors were pushed wide open.

Pulling slowly up the driveway, stopping right at the base of the grand marble steps, was a heavily armored black luxury SUV.

The rear door opened.

Clara stepped out into the bright sunlight. She was no longer wearing the filthy, torn rags of the homeless shelter. Lorenzo’s medical team had spent the last three hours tending to her. She wore a beautiful, elegant white wool coat over a simple beige dress. Her long, wavy brown hair blew gently in the wind. She looked fragile, exhausted, but breathtakingly beautiful.

She looked up at the towering mansion—the home she had been violently exiled from a year ago.

And then, she saw the little girl in the pink ruffled dress standing in the doorway.

Clara gasped, covering her mouth with her hands as tears of pure, overwhelming joy flooded her hazel eyes.
