Chapter 2 - The Princess Boss

The cinematic tension in the grand luxury office stretched until it almost snapped.

Then, the heavy, suffocating silence instantly broke.

Renzo, Vincent’s towering head of security, let out a sudden, muffled snort. Within a second, the other four heavily armed guards in the background completely lost their professional composure. They turned their faces to the mahogany bookshelves, covering their mouths, trying desperately to hold back their loud, echoing laughter.

Clara opened her eyes in absolute shock. The pure terror gripping her chest slowly transitioned into a breathless, genuine smile of relief.

Vincent Castalano stayed perfectly calm. He didn't snatch the cheap pink plastic crown off his head. He remained crouched in front of the little girl, letting the sparkly tiara sit slightly crooked on his dark hair.

He slowly turned his head to glare at his laughing, heavily armed guards.

A subtle, warm, incredibly rare smirk finally broke across his hardened, handsome face.

"Anyone who laughs is cleaning the stables," Vincent stated in a cold, deadpan voice.

The guards instantly swallowed their laughter, standing rigidly at attention, though their shoulders still shook with suppressed amusement.

Vincent gently stood up, carefully keeping the crown on his head so he wouldn't upset the three-year-old. He looked over at Clara in the doorway.

The warm smirk instantly vanished from his face.

Clara had dropped her coffee cup onto the carpet. But it wasn't the spilled coffee that caught Vincent’s highly observant, lethal attention. When she dropped the cup, a small, black burner phone slipped from the pocket of her maid apron and clattered onto the marble threshold.

👉 Vincent’s eyes locked onto the glowing screen of the dropped phone, and the executioner within him officially awakened.
