Chapter 4 - The Demanded Name

Arthur didn't pull away from his grandmother's desperate grip. He held her steady, his face turning fierce and incredibly angry.

The sophisticated, charming billionaire completely vanished. The aggressive, ruthless apex predator emerged.

He leaned in closer to Eleanor, ensuring only she and the nervous maid could hear him.

"Tell me who," Arthur demanded, his voice dropping into a dark, demonic whisper that vibrated with a promise of absolute violence.

The maid, trembling violently, finally found her courage. She looked up at Arthur, her eyes wide with fear.

"She locked her in the basement, sir," the maid whispered quickly, terrified of being overheard. "When you left for your business trip on Tuesday, she dragged Mrs. Eleanor down the stairs. She kept her tied to a chair for three days. She said if Mrs. Eleanor didn't sign the estate over to her name before the wedding, she would throw the locket in the furnace and leave her to starve."

Arthur’s jaw locked so tightly the muscles visibly ticked beneath his skin.

He had proposed to Victoria three months ago. She played the role of the perfect, caring fiancée flawlessly. She had volunteered to stay at the estate and care for Eleanor while Arthur secured a massive international shipping deal. He had trusted her with his home, his money, and his most precious family member.
