Chapter 8 - The Ultimate Humiliation

Arthur stood perfectly still, watching the police officers secure the handcuffs.
"You aren't my fiancée," Arthur corrected, his voice devoid of any human empathy. "You are a parasite. And your ruin is exactly what you deserve."
He reached out and roughly grabbed her left hand. With a single, sharp motion, Arthur violently ripped the massive, multi-million-dollar diamond engagement ring right off her finger.
Victoria wailed in agony, not from physical pain, but from the sudden, absolute loss of her wealth, her status, and her future.
"Take those earrings off her, too," Arthur ordered the officers coldly. "They belong to my estate."
Right in the middle of the grand luxury ballroom, in front of the city's most elite politicians and socialites, the police officers stripped the crying, humiliated woman of her diamond earrings. The beautiful off-the-shoulder red silk gown suddenly looked cheap and pathetic as she was paraded through the crowd like a common criminal.
"Arthur, please!" Victoria sobbed as they dragged her away. "I have nothing!"
"You have exactly what you gave my grandmother," Arthur replied. "Nothing."

The heavy doors of the ballroom slammed shut behind her, swallowing her desperate screams into the night. The threat was neutralized. The monster was gone.
👉 The ballroom remained frozen in shock, leaving Arthur to turn his attention back to the true queen of the room.
