Chapter 5 - The Red Target

Victoria was still sitting elegantly at the VIP table. She was casually adjusting one of her massive diamond earrings, smiling at a passing waiter. She thought her plan was foolproof. She thought Eleanor was too terrified, and too ashamed of her own weakness, to ever tell Arthur the truth.

She thought she was untouchable.

Arthur gently passed Eleanor back into the protective arms of the maid. He took a slow, heavy breath, his chest rising under his black open-collar shirt.

He didn't yell. He didn't draw a weapon. He didn't need to.

Arthur slowly turned his head. His cinematic, slow eye movement swept past the crystal chandeliers and the formal guests, locking directly onto Victoria.

The sheer, apocalyptic fury radiating from his eyes was palpable. The air in the ballroom seemed to instantly drop ten degrees.

Victoria felt the shift. She looked up, her arrogant smile faltering slightly as she met his lethal gaze.

"You," Arthur stated.

The word was quiet, cold, and undeniably furious. It carried the absolute, irreversible weight of a death sentence.
