Chapter 10 - The True Family

Six months later, the dark, traumatic memories of the funeral home were entirely replaced by the bright, warm sunlight pouring into the solarium of the family’s grand estate.
Emma sat in a plush armchair, completely fully recovered, a healthy, radiant color returned to her cheeks. She held a steaming cup of tea, smiling as she looked out at the beautiful blooming gardens.
David’s trial had been swift and brutal. The police had easily found the encrypted texts to his mistress and the financial records of him purchasing the black-market neurotoxin. He was currently sitting in a maximum-security federal prison, stripped of absolutely every penny, facing a life sentence for attempted murder and fraud.
The heavy oak doors of the solarium opened.
Lily walked in. She was no longer wearing an orange and white maid uniform. She wore a stunning, perfectly tailored designer dress, her hair styled elegantly.
"Are you ready for the board meeting, Lily?" Emma asked warmly, her eyes filled with profound, eternal gratitude.
After the terrifying incident, Eleanor and Emma had completely rewritten their family trust. Lily wasn't just given a massive financial reward; she was legally adopted into the family empire as a full executive partner. The woman who had swung the axe to save Emma’s life would never have to serve another person for the rest of her existence.
Lily smiled, walking over and taking a seat next to her best friend.

"I'm ready," Lily replied, her cinematic realism shining through her confident, beautiful expression. They had survived the ultimate betrayal, and now, they owned the world.
If you were Lily, would you have swung the axe even knowing it could land you in prison, or would you have been too terrified to act?
