Chapter 6 - The Mother's Wrath

Before David could throw his jacket over the hole, Eleanor moved with blinding, terrifying speed.
The sixty-year-old matriarch raised her hand and delivered a vicious, explosive slap directly across David’s handsome face. The sharp CRACK of the blow echoed through the silent funeral home, sending the young man in the tuxedo stumbling backward in pure shock.
"Don't you dare touch her!" Eleanor roared, completely abandoning her quiet dignity. The fierce, protective fury of a mother completely took over.
She turned to the two massive security guards who were still holding Lily on the floor.
"Let the maid go!" Eleanor commanded, her voice vibrating with absolute, lethal authority. "And pry this lid off! Right now! If any of you hesitate for a single second, I will ruin your lives!"
The guards immediately dropped Lily's arms. They realized the power dynamic in the room had just violently shifted. The men rushed to the altar. Gripping the heavy edges of the white coffin lid, they braced their boots against the pedestal and pulled with all their immense strength.
The hidden metal latches groaned and snapped under the sheer physical force.
With a heavy, echoing thud, the entire top half of the pristine white coffin lid was violently ripped away, crashing onto the red carpet below.
