Chapter 2 - The Silent Crowd

The cinematic realism of the terrifying, suffocating tension completely electrified the grand ballroom.
Suddenly, the chaotic, mocking laughter violently stopped in a fraction of a second. The wealthy, elite crowd physically staggered backward, parting in absolute, dead silence like the Red Sea. The arrogant millionaires lowered their champagne glasses, sheer, breathless terror washing over their powdered faces.
A wide shot captured a towering, terrifyingly handsome thirty-something man in a flawlessly tailored black suit stepping completely out of the shadows.
He wasn't a billionaire donor or a corporate CEO. He was Nolan, the most feared, ruthless, and untouchable mafia boss in the entire city.
Nolan completely ignored the terrified billionaires. He didn't even look at the weeping girl on the floor yet. His dark, lethal eyes locked entirely onto Delaney, his natural micro-expressions radiating a cold, dangerously calm fury that completely paralyzed the room.
He took one slow, deliberate step toward the arrogant heiress.
"Don't anyone move," Nolan commanded smoothly, his deep voice carrying a freezing, lethal frequency that sliced right through the ambient noise of the ballroom.
A close-up captured Delaney physically staggering backward. Her toxic, cruel laugh completely vanished. All the color violently drained from her flawless face, leaving her looking like a terrified ghost. Her red gown swished against the marble floor as her knees nearly buckled. She recognized exactly who he was, and absolute panic hijacked her mind.
