Chapter 6 - The Structural Flaw

River wasn't a weak, submissive victim anymore. She stood confidently in the mafia boss's heavy black suit jacket, her brown hair and silver tiara shining under the crystal chandeliers, completely emboldened by the massive, untouchable predator standing right beside her.
"He's right," River stated clinically, looking the vicious heiress directly in the eyes. "Your father did steal my blueprints. Which means he is the only one legally responsible for the massive, catastrophic structural flaw currently hidden inside this building."
Delaney’s jaw literally unhinged. The crushing magnitude of the revelation hit her with the physical force of a freight train.
River hadn't just been drawing pretty buildings. When she realized the corrupt CEO was going to steal her work, she had secretly, intentionally altered the load-bearing calculations on the final submission draft. The building was safe for exactly six months, but the foundation was completely, irreversibly failing.
"I knew he was going to steal my work, Delaney," River explained flawlessly, ensuring the entire VIP section heard her absolute brilliance. "I filed the original, safe blueprints directly with the federal patent office three days before he fired me. He built this estate using the rigged draft. You didn't steal my work; you stole a massive, multi-million-dollar federal lawsuit."
"You're lying!" Delaney shrieked hysterically, lunging aggressively toward River.
