Chapter 4 - The March of the King

"Show me where," Dante commanded, his voice dropping into a dark, freezing register completely devoid of human mercy.
He didn't wait for his armored SUVs. He gently lifted Sophie into his massive, muscular arms, holding her securely against his tailored navy blue suit. The little girl wrapped her arms around his neck, burying her tear-stained face in his shoulder.
Dante marched directly out of the heavy iron gates.
He didn't walk alone. At a single, silent hand signal, twelve heavily armed, fiercely loyal syndicate enforcers fell into a flawless tactical formation behind him. The sunny, peaceful morning transformed into a terrifying march of absolute doom.
Sophie pointed her tiny finger down the street, toward a small, modest guest house hidden behind a row of overgrown oak trees just two blocks away from the massive estate.
As they approached the modest property, Dante saw the front door was completely shattered off its hinges. The cinematic realism of the absolute, crushing evil taking place inside paralyzed him with rage.
Clara had been living in his shadow for five years, hiding in plain sight, terrified for her life.
Dante carefully handed Sophie to his towering head of security.
"Put her in the armored truck," Dante ordered softly. "Do not let her see what happens next. If anyone approaches this vehicle, kill them."
The guard nodded, gently carrying the little girl away to absolute safety.

Dante turned back toward the shattered doorway of the small house. He unbuttoned his suit jacket, his sharp jawline locked into titanium. He didn't draw a weapon. He was going to dismantle the monster inside with his bare hands.
👉 Dante stepped silently into the shadows of the house, preparing to uncover the ultimate betrayal.
