Chapter 9 - The Syndicate's Justice

Dante raised his phone and dialed a completely different number.

"Call the Russian syndicate," Dante ordered his head enforcer. "Tell them Julian was the one who intentionally leaked their shipping routes to the feds last year to cover his own embezzlement. Tell them he’s sitting tied up in my loading dock right now. Let the wolves handle the thief."

Julian let out a high-pitched, agonizing wail of absolute, apocalyptic terror.

The massive enforcers didn't hesitate. They hauled the screaming, weeping traitor to his feet. They dragged him out of the shattered front door, his pathetic, humiliated screams echoing down the street until he was shoved into the back of an armored van, permanently swallowing his toxic existence into violent ruin.

The threat was entirely neutralized. The empire was secure.

The chaotic, violent energy completely evaporated from the small, destroyed kitchen.

Dante stood up, smoothing his tailored suit. He took a deep, steadying breath. He turned around and looked at Clara.

She was trembling violently, overwhelmed by the massive adrenaline dump. She had spent five years terrified of the man standing in front of her, believing he wanted her executed.

Dante walked slowly toward her.

The cold, terrifying executioner completely vanished from his dark eyes. He looked exhausted, deeply vulnerable, and his face was filled with a profound, overwhelming love and devastating guilt.
