Chapter 7 - The Ghost at the Door

Julian physically staggered backward, clutching his ruined wrist against his chest.

All the color violently drained from his flawless, arrogant face. His toxic smirk evaporated into pure, unadulterated terror. He looked like a man who had just seen a ghost.

Standing in the center of the kitchen, radiating the absolute, terrifying aura of a grim reaper, was his billionaire brother.

"Dante..." Julian gasped, his voice shrinking into a breathless, terrified squeak. "It... it isn't what it looks like! She attacked me! I was interrogating her for you!"

Dante didn't yell. A quick, violent outburst was far too generous for the monster who had stolen five years of his family's life.

"You told her I wanted her dead," Dante whispered. His deep voice was a cold, lethal frequency that instantly froze the blood in Julian's veins.

Clara covered her mouth, weeping tears of pure, overwhelming shock. She hadn't seen the man she loved in five agonizing years.

"Dante, please! I'm your brother!" Julian wailed hysterically, completely abandoning his tough-guy persona. He backed into the kitchen counter, desperate to escape.

Dante stepped perfectly into his path. The apex predator lunged forward, grabbing Julian by the throat of his tailored gray suit, lifting the heavy forty-year-old man completely off his feet.

With devastating force, Dante violently slammed Julian backward into the kitchen cabinets, shattering the wooden doors upon impact.

"Pin him," Dante commanded softly.
