Chapter 4 - The Fake Bride

Victoria smoothly glided across the burgundy carpet, her expensive white gown rustling softly.

"Darling?" Victoria asked, her voice dripping with sweet, manufactured concern. She gently placed her manicured hand on Alessandro’s tailored tuxedo sleeve. "Is everything alright with the accounting glitch? The guests are waiting."

Clara stared at the beautiful bride in absolute, unfiltered horror.

Victoria wasn't just a wealthy heiress. Over the past year, Victoria had secretly used her access to Alessandro’s legitimate corporate servers to systematically embezzle nineteen million dollars. She had funneled the money into highly encrypted offshore accounts, completely intending to secure the marriage certificate today, drain the rest of the master trust, and vanish entirely.

Clara was the only person who had dug deep enough into the boring, complex digital ledgers to find the hidden routing numbers.

"It's being handled, Victoria," Alessandro replied smoothly, his tone softening slightly for his bride. He didn't notice the microscopic flash of relief in Victoria’s eyes when she heard him condemn the analyst.

"Good," Victoria smiled warmly. "I can't wait to be your wife, Alessandro."

The bodyguard violently jerked Clara’s arm, beginning to drag her forcefully backward toward the heavy steel doors of the service elevator.

Clara’s heart hammered violently against her ribs. She was out of time. If those steel doors closed, she was a dead woman.

A tight close-up captured Clara locking her desperate, terrified eyes directly onto Alessandro.

👉 Alessandro froze, completely unaware that the desperate analyst had already planted a digital bomb inside his ballroom.
