Chapter 2 - The Mirror Image

"Why is she here?" Vanessa hissed, her voice trembling with an angry, panicked energy as she stepped closer to Dominic's side.

Natalie heard the crash of the glass. She looked across the crowded ballroom, her eyes locking directly onto Dominic. A realistic facial micro-expression of pure terror flashed across her face. She immediately panicked, taking a step backward toward the heavy oak doors, pulling the two children standing beside her tightly against her beige gown.

One was a little girl in a beige dress with a delicate floral headband, her big eyes wide and innocent. The other was a five-year-old boy wearing a tiny, immaculate black tuxedo.

The little girl looked up at the towering, terrifying mafia boss across the room.

"Mommy, who is that?" the little girl asked softly, her innocent voice cutting through the tension.

Dominic didn't hear the question. He couldn't hear anything. The ambient noise of the gala faded into a deafening silence. He stared in absolute, paralyzing shock at the five-year-old boy in the tuxedo.

The boy didn't hide behind his mother's dress. He stood his ground, staring directly back at Dominic. The child's expression mirrored the boss's exact cold, serious, uncompromising demeanor. The sharp jawline, the dark, intense eyes, the proud posture—it was like looking into a living, breathing time machine.

Dominic’s breath caught painfully in his chest. The realization hit him with the kinetic force of a freight train. He recognized his own face.

"Stay away from us," Natalie warned, her voice shaky but fiercely protective.

Dominic completely ignored the whispering crowd. He took a heavy, deliberate step forward, his shock instantly transforming into a dark, absolute possessiveness.
